1. Vehicles​

break down​

  • stop working 出故障，抛锚

Christina's motorcycle broke down while she was traveling through the desert. 克里斯蒂娜的摩托车在穿越沙漠时抛锚了。

get in(to)​

  • enter (a car or taxi) 进入（汽车或出租车）

Angelo left his house and got into the taxi. 安杰洛离开家，坐进了出租车。

get on​

  • enter (public transportation) 登上（公共交通工具）

George and Yolanda got on the train to Paris. 乔治和约兰达登上了开往巴黎的火车。

cut out​

  • suddenly stop working （机器）突然熄火，停止运转

Clive tried to restart the motorbike's engine after it cut out without any warning. 摩托车引擎毫无预兆地熄火后，克莱夫试图重新启动它。

get out (of)​

  • exit (a car or taxi) 从（汽车或出租车）出来

As the movie star got out of the limousine, photographers surrounded him. 当电影明星从豪华轿车里出来时，摄影师们围住了他。

get off​

drive off​

  • drive away, leave 开车离去

George checked the road for other vehicles before driving off. 乔治在开车离开前查看了路上是否有其他车辆。

turn off​

  • leave a road and drive onto a different one 拐出，拐弯离开

Tanya turned off the main road and drove along the track to the beach. 塔尼娅拐出主路，沿着小路驶向海滩。

turn back​

  • return in the direction you have just come from 往回走，折回

Jen turned back when she realized that she had forgotten her phone. 当珍意识到自己忘了手机时，她又折返回去。

turn onto​

  • join a road from a different one 拐到，转向

When you reach the castle, turn onto the highway and head west. 当你到达城堡时，拐上高速公路，然后向西行驶。

drop off​

  • take a person somewhere in a car and leave them there 把...送到，让...下车

Kamal dropped me off at the train station on his way to work. 卡迈勒在上班的路上把我送到了火车站。

slow down​

take off​

pick up​

  • go to collect someone (usually in a car) 接人，搭载

speed up​

  • go more quickly 加速

pull in(to)​

  • stop and park somewhere 停靠，驶进

pull out (of)​

  • move from one road to another 驶出，开车离开

pull up​

  • stop driving (often for a short time) 停车，停下来

pull over​

  • drive to the side of the road and stop 靠边停车
